Yes, uedv 083 works fine again. After doing some research and looking at he changelogs, I've found the culprit: 082 was substituting the format chars twice for the RUN field, so it got the PNP subsystem rule in hotplug.rules wrong and the shell script modprobing the modules exited with an error.
