Ritesh, thanks for packaging chrome-gnome-shell. Since Ubuntu does not reject uploads for this lintian error, I have modified the packaging locally to only apply the workaround patch when this package is built on a Debian system. I'm attaching my git commit. This would allow Ubuntu to be in sync with Debian for this package without losing functionality there.
