The Debian patch is more future proof as it assumes the old OpenSSL will
disappear in favor of the new one. I like it. On the other hand it brings many
OpenSSL-licensed code into the patch. That can be unacceptable for someone.

I developed my patch because at that time I did not know about the Debian
patch. There was no upstream bug report linking to it. I'm fine with your
patch. But I even do not maintain the package in Fedora, so I'm not going to
touch the package again unless it breaks.
