Which version of grass did you build yourself? The 7.0.5 tarball, SVN or something else? Can send the build log? Without those I cannot determine the differences between your build and that of the Debian package assuming you're using the same version. If you built from SVN the issue was probably fixed in the mean time but not released yet.
