Short story: After booting the 4.x kernel for the first time, sound disappeared. I recently did a factory reset in the BIOS, and sound re-appeared. So yes, at this point, I also suspect that there is some problem with the kernel, but why this seemingly happens only on upgrade, I don't know. Cheers, --Toni++
