Today, I tried to import a video in ardour following this method: * opened ardour * session -> open video * it then asked me to install harvid * installed harvid via aptitude * tried again session -> open video * a dialog to choose the video to import * Then Ardour, in a windows called "Transcode/Import video file" says: ffmpeg not found. Unable to import video. However: % dpkg -s ffmpeg Package: ffmpeg Status: install ok installed Priority: optional Section: video Installed-Size: 1983 Maintainer: Debian Multimedia Maintainers <pkg-multimedia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org> Architecture: amd64 Multi-Arch: foreign Version: 7:3.0.2-4 Replaces: libav-tools (<< 6:12~~), qt-faststart (<< 7:2.7.1-3~) Depends: libavcodec57 (>= 7:3.0) | libavcodec-extra57 (>= 7:3.0), libavdevice57 (>= 7:3.0), libavfilter6 (>= 7:3.0), libavformat57 (>= 7:3.0), libavresample3 (>= 7:3.0), libavutil55 (>= 7:3.0), libc6 (>= 2.14), libpostproc54 (>= 7:3.0), libsdl1.2debian (>= 1.2.11), libswresample2 (>= 7:3.0), libswscale4 (>= 7:3.0), libvdpau1 (>= 0.2), libx11-6 Suggests: ffmpeg-doc Breaks: libav-tools (<< 6:12~~), qt-faststart (<< 7:2.7.1-3~) Conffiles: /etc/ffserver.conf 81b94256d412c37f0f81214b3737ac53 Description: Tools for transcoding, streaming and playing of multimedia files FFmpeg is the leading multimedia framework, able to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream, filter and play pretty much anything that humans and machines have created. It supports the most obscure ancient formats up to the cutting edge. . This package contains: * ffmpeg: a command line tool to convert multimedia files between formats * ffserver: a multimedia streaming server for live broadcasts * ffplay: a simple media player based on SDL and the FFmpeg libraries * ffprobe: a simple multimedia stream analyzer * qt-faststart: a utility to rearrange Quicktime files Homepage: https://ffmpeg.org/ I don't know any of the ardour/harvid internals, but it seems it's harvid who manages the videos. If not, please move this bug to ardour.
