Hi Peter, I'm currently using Tor 0.1.0.16-1 and openssl 0.9.8a-5. Tor works fine for me. It felt like the problem faded away slowly, there was a constant decrease in crashes/time. Unfortunately I am unable to say what exactly caused the problem to no longer occur on my setup. In case you have any further questions related to this, please do not hesitate to ask.
