issue is reported to be solved as of 2016-09-07 using a patch for Ubuntu, see: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12264 https://launchpad.net/~yuri-sucupira/+archive/ubuntu/thunar1.6.10-fix my experience with testing=stretch: Renaming files in thunar sometimes segfault thunar. Unfortunately it only seldomly happen (once a week or so). Note: using mv in bash never made thunar crash. It happens when doing in a Thunar window: - right click on file icon (ex: a txt document) - select 'Rename...' - type the new name, press enter then sometimes (not systematically) - (all) thunar windows disappear - ex in dmesg report: Thunar[3031]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f2c0ef1434e sp 00007ffec0734348 error 4 in libc-2.24.so[7f2c0ee85000+195000] restarting thunar: the files name was properly changed => crash happen after thunar completed the name change.
