Package: samba
Version: 3.0.21a-2

Hello,

While watching unused files on my system I tried to remove the
tdbs in /var/lib/samba, because the tdbs now seem to be located in
/var/run/samba. Furthermore, none of the tdbs in /var/lib/samba is in
use when samba is running (while the ones in /var/run/samba are).
And even further, none of the binaries in the samba package seems to
even know the path /var/lib/samba at all. So I was quite sure it is okay
to remove them.
However, when I try to reinstall samba then, I get things like:
Unable to modify passwd TDB! Error: Record exists occured while storing the
main record (USER_root)
...
Unable to modify TDB passwd ! Error: Record exists occured while storing the
RID index (RID_000003e8)

A quick look over the package script shows, that they still *do* refer
to tdbs in /var/lib/samba. I guess this is the same issue that #325467
did refer to. However, I cannot reopen it since it was already archived
after being closed because of unreproducibility. I think reproduction is
quite simple, assumed you just have a clean installation somewhere :)

regards
