I propose the following text as a starting point:

The BROWSER variable can be used to select which browser is started by the sensible-browser command. For instance, to use firefox, add the following to /etc/environ:
BROWSER=/usr/bin/mozilla-firefox

Are you suggesting that this be added to environ(7) ?

I guess that would be in line with documenting EDITOR there (unless EDITOR is more "standard" than BROWSER?). In this case, I guess "add the following to /etc/environ" could be replaced by "use" since people reading environ(7) now that part already.

Personally, I think it might make sense to have that information in sensible-browser(1). The most important is to have that info *somewhere*, and to fix the mention that BROWSER is documented in environ(7) when it is not.

Actually, "too much" doc is better than not enough, so it could be mentionned in both. Besides, sensible-browser(1) is very short at the moment, so adding that paragraph there will not overwhelm the user ;-)

Cheers,

Daniel
