I now see... ~/.local/share/applications contains files modified on 2016-05-22 20:35:18 of the form wine-extension-*. In this directory, mimeinfo.cache has also been modified just after and contains wine related info. In my test of MPFR, I run some tests under wine. So, wine seems to be the "culprit" here. Concerning the other machine with changes on 2015-09-10 01:24:02, this time I have: zira:~> lg .local/share/applications total 20 -rw-r--r-- 1 8390 2016-09-01 14:13:32 mimeapps.list -rw-r--r-- 1 13 2015-09-10 01:24:01 mimeinfo.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 172 2015-09-10 01:24:01 userapp-Firefox-K6184X.desktop So, Firefox could have done something. This seems to be common: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22userapp-Firefox%22 In short, there are just applications that modify/update the user-level mime database. I don't know how or why, but this seems to be something normal. -- Vincent Lefèvre <vinc...@vinc17.net> - Web: <https://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <https://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
