Package: courier-authdaemon Version: 0.66.1-1+b1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
today my courier-authdaemon failed to start. Investigation showed Sep 6 09:44:18 trumm courier-authdaemon[420]: Starting Courier authentication services: authdaemondmkdir: cannot create directory '/var/run/courier': File exists Sep 6 09:44:18 trumm systemd[1]: courier-authdaemon.service: control process exited, code=exited status=1 Sep 6 09:44:18 trumm systemd[1]: Unit courier-authdaemon.service entered failed state. The init script checks for existence of /var/run/courier and creates it if it doesn't exist. courier-ldap's init script, started in parallel by systemd, does the same, and boom! I note that courier-ldap's init script differs in that it has mkdir -p -m 0775 $RUNDIR The -p flag, according to the man page, does not error out when the target directory exists. regards, cm. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.5 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages courier-authdaemon depends on: ii courier-authlib 0.66.1-1+b1 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian13+nmu1 courier-authdaemon recommends no packages. courier-authdaemon suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/courier/authdaemonrc changed [not included] -- no debconf information
