Well... it's hit-and-miss whether RealVideo10 streams, e.g. from the BBC website, are claimed by the gxine plugin or some other plugin which supports this type. /etc/alternatives won't help here, but I /could/ just leave out the appropriate line in browser-plugin/plugin.c - which would also have the effect of losing plugin support for RealAudioA8 (given the presence of the correct codecs). I see that (with my 1.0.3 build) xine_get_mime_types() lists the RealAudio types anyway, but it *does* list quite a few other types which aren't listed by the plugin. Maybe I should just use this anyway and filter out those types which contain ": Real"...? > For those who use the gxine browser plugin, it would disappear from their > systems, probably without warning, when upgrading from 0.4.8. A dependency could be added to work around this then dropped some time later, in time for etch's release; given that the package isn't in sarge, I don't think that this is a problem. > While I'd rather not like to see gxine split up into two packages, I > haven't investigated the situation further.
