Workaround with 1.4.0 is to add this section to
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf:
[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no
With this setting and "systemctl restart NetworkManager.service", WiFi
authentication succeeds.

I have supplied a log file and left it to the maintainers to decide.
