FWIW (currently with 1:45.2.0-1~deb8u1) I too have been seeing the crash exactly when clicking on to a new message: I get a brief glimpse then the whole window closes. If I restart icedove and click back to the same message then it's fine. icedove is otherwise generally stable for me, including calendar.
