Dear Maintainer,

it appears that the current sage[math] (version 7.3) cannot build
against PARI 2.7,
while is might against PARI 2.8.0.alpha .

As a lot of dependencies of sage[math] and sage[math] itself depend on
PARI, having
PARI 2.8 around would greatly ease the effort of the Deabian Sage Team
[1] to bring
sagemath into Debian. Currently an ad hoc pari-sage package [1,2] is
used by us (the
Debian Sage Team) for development, but this is bad policy and we wish
to use the common
pari package as soon as possible for obvious reasons.

At this stage, it is not clear whether or not any patch meant to please
sagemath is needed.
To start, let assume that no such patch is needed. Our long term plan
is to stick to the
stable version of PARI (but for now we need the coming stable version
to step forward).

Thanks,
Jerome
