The warning is exactly for these cases.  Gpg tries to work best with old
agents but for obvious reasons not everything can work.  Thus we
introduced this warning to point out the problem. 

Note that all components of GnuPG work closely together and should not
be considered independent tools (despite that the packaging may lead to
such an assumption).
