The idea of replacing sources.list (or just adding sources.list.d/ stuff?) 
is good, but I am also hoping to be able to use the rescue profile directly 
without needing any of my own modules.

BTW my work around for this bug has been to use the same DNS CNAME record 
in the build location and the boot location, "mirror". But that only works 
if you can control DNS/DHCP.
