Hi, I'm quite sure, this issue happened because your configuration file is incompatible with the new version. To prove this, please send the output of the "systemctl status syslog-ng.service" command after the failed upgrade and/or the configuration file if it possible. Also I'm thinking about a more robust upgrade path, covering this situation.
