I had this same problem (DVB channel selector inactive) around October
2005, and managed to fix it by googling for a solution, completely
ignoring the debian bug tracking system (shame on me!). The issue was
simply that the file kaffeine_part.desktop was missing, as attested by

As far as I can see, the problem does not exist anymore, since
kaffeine_part.desktop is now included in the kaffeine-xine package.
Is it perhaps time to close this issue?
