I'd actually tried 1.43-1 before reporting this bug, and that didn't help.
But it looks as though the problem is with libpq3, rather than
libdbd-pg-perl. I backported libpq4 to sarge, then built libdbd-pg-perl
against that, and that seems to resolve the problem.
I doubt there's anything more you can do, but this information may help
anyone else who runs into the same issue.
