Configure network HW: [ ] Config network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Create file systems: [ ] Mount partitions: [ ] Install base system: [ ] Install boot loader: [ ] Reboot: [ ] Comments/Problems: Though Ubuntu uses the debian installer, the whole process is much better than debian's. Ubuntu has made installing linux easy and this is a valuable goal. Debian should work harder on developing the OS so that installation is easier and distribution releases are more stable. Too much energy is wasted on arcane processor types for a focused distribution. Install logs and other status info is available in /var/log/debian-installer/.
