It was not there last time I looked at it, i'll test it then...

Well, it can be easyly adapted - just as with curses/ncurses. Code will
work with all of them in 8-bit locales, but curses/ncurses will not support 
UTF-8.

No, it is not true. This patch will work with other locales too.
