mount failed silently to mount DVD media for normal user: "mount: Aucun medium trouvé" (no media found) strace shows this message: write(2, "mount: doit \352tre le super usager"..., 53mount: doit être le super usager pour utiliser mount ) = 53 (only root can...) and DO NOT REPORT it to user ! I try the same media on DVD player drive (previous example is for DVD writer), media seems to be mounted and data have lots of error. it's ok for root.
