Hello Marko, the Debian import freeze for Ubuntu 16.10 is on 18 August 2016. [1] I usually don't need much time for packaging but since we would add a new binary package FreeCiv has to go through the so called NEW queue where a member of the FTP team will review the changes again. This might take only a few days but could also take several weeks. However I think the FTP team is rather responsive at the moment. Thus it would be good if 2.5.5 could be released within the next four weeks. If you can't make it in time, I will try to work on the new binary package this month.
