If it was 'succeeding' before, then perhaps it was due to ignoring an internal error (missing implementation in parser) which is now being reported. I had already noticed this issue just prior to the most recent release but did not realize that it was changed behavior.

I opened GraphicsMagick bug 392 (https://sourceforge.net/p/graphicsmagick/bugs/392/) to track this problem.
