Hi, on this system, I use a swapfile instead of a swap partition. The /etc/fstab file contains this line: /swapfile none swap defaults 0 0 When the system boots, I see the following error message, that is also logged in /var/log/boot: Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: . Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: Setting parameters of disc: /dev/hdc. Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: Will now activate swap. Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: swapon: /swapfile: Read-only file system Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: ^[[31m*^[[39;49m Swap activation failed with error code 255. Wed Jan 4 11:52:20 2006: Will now check root file system. [...] When the boot is finished, the swap is active: $ free [...] Swap: 524280 301836 222444 so this bug is only cosmetic, but it still deserves to be fixed. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (100, 'unstable'), (99, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.15-1-686 Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Versions of packages initscripts depends on: ii debianutils 2.15.2 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii e2fsprogs 1.38+1.39-WIP-2005.12.31-1 ext2 file system utilities and lib ii libc6 2.3.5-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii lsb-base 3.0-14 Linux Standard Base 3.0 init scrip ii mount 2.12r-2 Tools for mounting and manipulatin initscripts recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
