Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg-4

The Debian diff -4 seems to contain an early version of the mouse
backwards/forwards button support, as well as the later version that
was subsequently included in upstream.

The history of the patch is in upstream bugzilla at
 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64485
The patch that's included seems to be somewhere between the patches of
2003-06-25 and 2003-12-20 inclusive.

I have confirmed that something very like the final patch there
appears to be included in 1.5 upstream. So I think it should be
removed from the Debian .diff.gz.

I'm now going to attempt to reverse-apply the patch to the Ubuntu
version of firefox and I will report back to this Debian bug if I
discover anything else of interest.

FYI, this issue was reported to us via our bug system as a bug in
Ubuntu, and can currently be seen at:
 https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/27783
(Apologies for the horrid web layout there.)

Thanks for your attention.

Ian.
(relevantly, Ubuntu firefox maintainer)
