Package: src:linux Version: 4.5.3-2~bpo8+1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
Upon upgrading from linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64_4.3.5-1~bpo8+1_amd64 I have started experiencing hard freezes with the system and at other times, applications crash resulting in broken sound and messages in the kernel log like you see below. This also happens on a clean install with the kernel directly upgraded from the latest stable version to the current backports version (linux-image-4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64) and no previous sound or profile configuration. This did not happen in linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 and may be related to audio over MST DisplayPort (given the i915_audio_component message). I'm using the analog output, but I noticed a difference between the two kernel versions in that the older version didn't see anything about DP audio, but the newer version sees that there is nothing connected. Upgrading to the backports version of pulseaudio didn't help. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 (debian-ker...@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.9.2 (Debian 4.9.2-10) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.5.3-2~bpo8+1 (2016-05-13) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 root=UUID=95f02e4e-b62d-4683-932c-0ecc9c3e39e0 ro quiet ** Tainted: DOE (12416) * Kernel has oopsed before. * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. * Unsigned module has been loaded (currently expected). ** Kernel log: [ 2.736615] usbcore: registered new interface driver btusb [ 2.741592] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device HD Webcam C615 (046d:082c) [ 2.743101] hidraw: raw HID events driver (C) Jiri Kosina [ 2.750879] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid [ 2.750879] usbhid: USB HID core driver [ 2.751286] Bluetooth: hci0: read Intel version: 370810011003110e00 [ 2.751940] bluetooth hci0: firmware: direct-loading firmware intel/ibt-hw-37.8.10-fw-1.10.3.11.e.bseq [ 2.751942] Bluetooth: hci0: Intel Bluetooth firmware file: intel/ibt-hw-37.8.10-fw-1.10.3.11.e.bseq [ 2.754367] logitech-djreceiver 0003:046D:C52B.0003: hiddev0,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Device [Logitech USB Receiver] on usb-0000:00:14.0-3.4.3/input2 [ 2.754840] uvcvideo 2-3.4.2:1.2: Entity type for entity Extension 5 was not initialized!
