Hi Andreas, My mistake, I forgot that I customized the 900_exim4-config_local_user router years ago, I was thinking yesterday that it had been part of the standard Debian configuration. If you wanted to make that part of the standard then it would need to be added there as well - then you can put the appropriate lines in exim4.conf.localmacros, ie "ROUTER_LOCAL_SUFFIX_MATCH = +*" and "ROUTER_LOCAL_SUFFIX_OPTIONAL = true".
