Actually, this bug has not been properly fixed as I also get these
same errors if running etherape with the locale set to Spanish.
At startup:

And if I go to "About", which, in Spanish, has an accented character
in the definition ("Un visualizador gráfico") the About window only
shows the message partially ("Un visualizador gr") and the console shows
