Package: xdg-utils
Version: 1.1.0~rc1+git20111210-7.4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After doing this:

  xdg-mime default okular.desktop application/pdf

to make Okular my default application, xdg-open did not use okular (it fell
back to gnome's pdf viewer).

Running update-desktop-database did not solve the problem.

I think xdg-open was not able to find the relevant okular.desktop file in
/usr/share/applications/.kde4.
Copying the desktop file like this

  cp /usr/share/applications/kde4/okular.desktop /usr/share/applications

fixed the problem in this case, but I take it a proper fix would allow xdg-open
to
"see" all desktop files within /usr/share/applications/kde4 .
