I'm involved in this bug report as upstream developer for LTSP and as Debian co-maintainer for it, i.e. I'm trying to care for all Debian + Ubuntu LTSP users, not just for some local installation...
I don't think the Debian policy allows me to do that as part of ltsp-client.postinst, so I don't think I can solve it from the LTSP code side.
Sure, each and every LTSP user out there could possibly locate and read this bug report and mask the service for his local installation, but that's exactly what I'm trying to have centrally solved, to save thousands of users hours of frustration...
