Hi,
Since Upstream does not react, I just pushed the following patch in the Debian
repository.

@@ -3,4 +3,4 @@

It will be part of the next update of the Debian package.
Regarding the second startup message quoted in your bug report, I still could
not figure out how it is related to cloud-init, so unless you provide further
guidance, this bug will be closed at the next upload with the patch above.
