At least for me, qemu seems to have worked after switching from trying to install a 64 bit guest to 32 bits.
The command I used was: user$ qemu-system-i386 -m 2000 -drive file=empty.raw, format=raw -cdrom 32BIT.ISO -boot d -localtime -enable-kvm I suspect a bug in qemu's ability to run a 64 bit guest on a 32 bit architecture and/or Linux kernel. I hope that helps, Kingsley -- Time is the fire in which we all burn.
