Are these PDF documents? This looks like a problem that was fixed in poppler 0.21.3 (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54526). Please confirm if you still have this problem. If you do, please provide your libpoppler version and a PDF so we can reproduce it.
