Hello

Thanks for your answer, it did not work, first!

But then I realized what happened:

Knoppix has linked /dev/cdrom to /dev/sd0 and moreover has a boot
option which I used as well:

--8<------------------------schnipp------------------------->8---

        append="ramdisk_size=100000 resume2=swap:/dev/hda7 lang=de
apm=power-off hda=scsi hdb=scsi hdc=scsi hdd=scsi hde=scsi hdf=scsi hdg=scsi
hdh=scsi nomce "

--8<------------------------schnapp------------------------->8---

That of course makes it perfectly understandable that the module
ide-scsi is always loaded. (I understand the reasons for Knoppix to
chose that append option).

When I rebooted without that option and used xcdroast it worked!

However I got the following error and I would like to have anybody
comment on it:

    The ATAPI mode on a device can cause great delays in all X-CD-Roast
    operations, because communication with it takes much more time. Using
    a CD writer in that mode is not recommended - please use always SCSI
    emulation here

The other question which I still did not resolve, why does the Knoppix
2.4.27 and 2.6.9 kernels work happily with the scsi emulation!!!

Anyway strictly speaking the BUG is resolved.

Thanks
