with the fix of #343912 you changed the build-depends from libgd2-dev to libgd2-xpm-dev. This did also change the packages dependency from libgd2-xpm | libgd2-noxpm to libgd2-xpm. Unfortunately, libgd2-xpm, in turn, depends on a lot of X11-stuff (because of the xpm support). This makes it impossible to have enscribe on systems without X11. Do you really need the xpm support in enscribe? Could you please instead build-depend on libgd2-noxpm-dev. This automatically leads to a dependency to libgd2-xpm | libgd2-noxpm, so users can choose if they like to have the xpm support (and X11) or not - as it was before.
