This is the only version available in wheezy; I run wheezy for what are good reasons to me, so no, I can't test a more recent one. Even if I tweaked my apt config to make a newer one available, it would pull in the world [1] from jessie, forcing me to upgrade to jessie in all but name. Maybe this would be a good package to put in the backports repo.
