Giulio, thanks for your good eplanation. This is exactly the task I wrote 
gTranscribe for - just a plain audio player with embedded text editor, spell 
checking and convenient shortcuts (and support for foot switches). I regularly 
use it for transcription of interviews for journalistic purposes - all other 
software I tired was just bloated for my use-case.
