Package: hexchat
Version: 2.10.2-1+b3
Severity: normal

I often find myself typing into a channel when hexchat is not connected
to the server. In this situation, there is no indication that ones's
words are vanishing into the void.

For example, this morning I opened my laptop at the coffee shop, and an
hour later went to a channel and wrote something. Hexchat seemed to
think it was connected like it was when I suspended the laptop last
night; there was no error and the channel did not appear disconnected.
But nothing was sent.

I seem to have to manually /reconnect before trying to use IRC. And
that's for sending; I have no way to know if it's really connected and
the channel is idle or if it's disconnected.

Hexchat seems possibly worse at this than xchat, although I have not
figured out quite why.

I'm connecting to a znc bouncer, if it matters.
