Package: hexchat Version: 2.10.2-1+b3 Severity: normal I often find myself typing into a channel when hexchat is not connected to the server. In this situation, there is no indication that ones's words are vanishing into the void.
For example, this morning I opened my laptop at the coffee shop, and an hour later went to a channel and wrote something. Hexchat seemed to think it was connected like it was when I suspended the laptop last night; there was no error and the channel did not appear disconnected. But nothing was sent. I seem to have to manually /reconnect before trying to use IRC. And that's for sending; I have no way to know if it's really connected and the channel is idle or if it's disconnected. Hexchat seems possibly worse at this than xchat, although I have not figured out quite why. I'm connecting to a znc bouncer, if it matters. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages hexchat depends on: ii hexchat-common 2.10.2-1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.18.0-1 ii libc6 2.21-8 ii libcairo2 1.14.6-1 ii libcanberra0 0.30-2.1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.10.6-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.106-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.3 ii libfreetype6 2.6.1-0.1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.32.3-1.2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.46.2-3 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.29-1 ii libnotify4 0.7.6-2 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.38.1-1 ii libproxy1v5 0.4.11-4.2 ii libssl1.0.2 1.0.2f-2 Versions of packages hexchat recommends: ii gvfs-bin 1.26.2-1+b1 ii hexchat-perl 2.10.2-1+b3 ii hexchat-plugins 2.10.2-1+b3 ii hexchat-python 2.10.2-1+b3 Versions of packages hexchat suggests: pn unifont <none> -- no debconf information -- see shy jo
