As was pointed out this is not the Gnome file chooser, but the new GTK
one. I'm not sure why you're unhappy with it, the old file chooser
firefox used to use was a dog.

Since firefox is free software, you're welcome to fix this problem as
you see it, rather than boycotting it entirely. But do as you please,
I won't cry over having lost you.
