Hello, I just had a look at this bug and could isolate the error to getline pipe only, the date function is out off suspicion: I replaced the date function by the command "echo 'teststring'" in some variations and got the same errors, see appended file "test_awk_echo.tgz".
I checked this only on my Asus EeePC 1011X and software today is a bit updated since the first test: ii gawk 1:4.1.1+dfsg-1 ii libc6:i386 2.19-18+deb8u2 ii libreadline6:i386 6.3-8+b3 ii libsigsegv2:i386 2.10-4+b1 Kind regards, Bernward.
