Package: yp-tools Version: 3.3-1 Severity: important Usertags: usrmerge The package installs some files in /usr/bin/:
/usr/bin/domainname /usr/bin/nisdomainname /usr/bin/ypdomainname which have the same name of file installed by the hostname package in /bin/, so this breaks the package when installed on a marged /usr system. For more information about merged /usr please see https://wiki.debian.org/UsrMerge and https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/users/md/usrmerge.git/plain/debian/README.Debian I do not know exactly how yp-tools is supposed to work, but this kind of setup is definitely not correct because both programs may be called by different software depending on the $PATH, boot progress and explicit paths. If the files are not actually needed then they should not be installed at all, but if they must be used instead of the ones provided by hostname then yp-tools should divert these and install its own binaries in /bin/. -- ciao, Marco
