I performed the following experiment [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cd .thumbnails/normal/ [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.thumbnails/normal$ ls -1 | wc -l 3227 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.thumbnails/normal$ gthumb . Here I let gthumb churn for a few seconds before I closed it. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.thumbnails/normal$ ls -1 | wc -l 3324 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/.thumbnails/normal$ Notice that there are many new thumbnails. Closer inspection reveals that the new ones are thumbnails of other thumbnails, created by gthumb. The thumbnail spec makes it clear that thumbnails should never be created for other thumbnails.
