Well that's the one I was thinking about ;-) Reason is basically the same as for demoting to Suggests. Why should Debian, deeply within FLOSS, suggest a proprietary/commercial thing (google calender) if it doesn't also suggest the open/standardised thingy (CalDAV). Cheers, Chris.
