I'm having the same problem here, probably after upgrading to network-manager 1.0.10 (wasn't very attentive at the upgrades yesterday).
What sticks out in my package list is that the openvpn packages are still at 1.0.8-1: $ dpkg -l | grep -E '(libnm|network-manager)' ii libnm-glib-vpn1:amd64 1.0.10-1 ii libnm-glib4:amd64 1.0.10-1 ii libnm-gtk-common 1.0.10-1 ii libnm-gtk0:amd64 1.0.10-1 ii libnm-util2:amd64 1.0.10-1 ii libnm0:amd64 1.0.10-1 ii network-manager 1.0.10-1 ii network-manager-gnome 1.0.10-1 ii network-manager-openvpn 1.0.8-1 ii network-manager-openvpn-gnome 1.0.8-1 I don't know how routes are propagated through all the NM components but maybe the version difference already explains this.
