Unfortunately, this doesn't happen with either the Debian installer CD, nor with the Debian Gnome Live CD.
I've seen this problem always happening with Debian 8.0 on a Dell Vostro
260, using the stock Dell keyboard and a Logitech Marble trackball. The
keyboard lost the first charachter only somethimes, making it very
difficult to login (the keyboard malfunctioned both under Gnome and in
the text console, there were no messages related to USB in the logs).
Under Gnome, both the trackball and the keyboard seemed to stop working
after every pause of just 1-2 seconds. That computer worked reliably at
least 3 years under Squeeze and Wheezy, and under Fedora ever since (it
belongs to a freelancer friend which needs it for work, so I had to find
a solution after one week of trying to find out what's wrong in Jessie).
