We should try to get Debian to change its default to always scan for
wifi networks with a random MAC address, like Apple iOS is doing these
days.

I tried to figure out if Network Manager now can do random MAC changes
during scanning on its own, and could not find any traces of it in my
searches.  But I came across this recipe for Network Manager with
upstart and Ubuntu, which might give us an idea how to do it:
