Package: s-nail Version: 14.8.5-3 Severity: important heirloom-mailx used to provide an /usr/bin/mail on my system. I see from the postinst that s-nail is supposed to as well... but it didn't work.
root@Zia:~# update-alternatives --list mail update-alternatives: error: no alternatives for mail root@Zia:~# update-alternatives --list mailx update-alternatives: warning: alternative /usr/bin/heirloom-mailx (part of link group mailx) doesn't exist; removing from list of alternatives /usr/bin/s-nail root@Zia:~# update-alternatives --config mailx update-alternatives: warning: /etc/alternatives/mailx is dangling; it will be updated with best choice There is only one alternative in link group mailx (providing /usr/bin/mailx): /usr/bin/heirloom-mailx Nothing to configure. update-alternatives --auto mailx got it to work. I then purged heirloom-mailx. -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (200, 'unstable'), (150, 'stable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.3.0-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages s-nail depends on: ii base-files 9.5 ii libc6 2.19-22 ii libcomerr2 1.42.13-1 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.13.2+dfsg-4 ii libidn11 1.32-3 ii libk5crypto3 1.13.2+dfsg-4 ii libkrb5-3 1.13.2+dfsg-4 ii libssl1.0.2 1.0.2d-3 ii libtinfo5 6.0+20151024-2 s-nail recommends no packages.
